Pool construction..walls collapse, Bundaberg

Hello again, this week had been rather painful as the delaying in being able to spray this pool because of the persistent rain has created lots of stress. Yesterday the team went down to the site and found the shoring on the walls of the excavation had bowed from the pressure the rain sodden material put on the wall. Shoring is place to support the concrete when spraying and to cover voids left by large rocks and collapsed material…

Pool construction reinstate walls after collapse

Yes it was painfull but the team got stuck into the job in hand to remove the slop and slug, untie the S12 bars, remove the shoring and do it all again. That took five men around 4 hours to complete the work.. great work guys couldnt have done it without you. Then the next step is to remove the silt form the filter gravel to allow good drainage under the shell and then use a scrubbing brush and a hose to wash down the steel so that the concrete binds to the steel. Once complete pump out the excess water and its all good to go… Concrete spraying team arrived and 5 minutes after this was all complete…. check them out in action, just as tying the steel is an art (thanks Bruce) so is the spraying cutting and shaping of the concrete.

Lets hope we have a few dry days so we can clean away all the rubbish….its so sloppy at present but we dare not bring a machine in yet.

Keep an eye out for the progress of the pool in the coming weeks…

Custom Pool design and construction, Bargara

Another custom pool design for clients at Bargara.

This pool is tucked into the corner of the back yard to allow some grass to remain when the pool area is complete. The pool will include a Cascade Splash water feature, some glass fencing and Stone Directions, pavers and Bullnose coping.. The access was super tight and all the material from excavation was run to the street with our Positrak.

Bargara pool construction, getting started

Pool excavation, Bargara

Bargara pool construction underway

Right in the middle of excavation one of the tracks decided to let go so it was a mad dash to grab anew set. Then the fun began fitting the thing. What a mission that turned out to be. Its all good now with pool excavated and the pool steel is almost complete ready for spraying on Monday.

Its always great to custom design pools to provide our clients with a unique pool design not just a duplicate of another project. Stay watching and see this pool area being constructed at Bargara.

Giant pool shade umbrella, bundaberg

Ever had the children not wanting to apply the sunscreen, while playing in the pool and wish you could give them some shade so they can enjoy swimming as long as they wanted… this is the answer a giant umbrella with a radius of 5.5m and that means 11m across the diameter.

You can have one of these installed to swing out over the pool, then rotate around while you have a bbq.. so easy to rotate, almost anyone could do it. The umbrella requires a footing 1.2m deep and 450mm square so its got a great footing, and you will need council approval.  The engineering for the footing detail is provided and the umbrella can be installed  the day after the footing is poured within a few hours. So it doesn’t matter if its boiling hot in summer or in the middle of winter you can get burned just as easy..

Did you know the darker colours actually provide a higher level of UV protection that the softer colours..so black is the best I believe.

Drop over to the Lifestyle Solutions Centre at 78 Mt Perry Road North bundaberg to check out the umbrella we have on display, give it a go and see how it works. I have attached video so you can see how easy it is to use…look forward to seeing you…

Pool construction, water feature, Bundaberg

Thought of giving the entertaining area a facelift… these clients just purchased a great looking home in Coral Cove near Bundaberg and found the Fibreglass pool looking average, not class or style….They wanted to add a waterfeature and LED lighting to lift the appeal of the pool at night, a change in style to reflect the  home’s modern theme.

So that’s the challenge and here is what happened…check out the images and follow the progress as we get started on this complete overhaul of the the pool area… Brad and Donna have some great ideas and within a few weeks they’ll be swimming again

control weeds in your lawn, landscaping in Bundaberg

When your lawn seems to be  overtaken with weeds and seem to making no headway at all. An alternative to weedicide especially with Mullumbimby couch, clovers etc is to apply Dolomite to the area.. 40 Kg to 100m2 seems to work well. The soil has been fertilised time and again to keep it looking green, now its so acid it wont respond. The Dolomite will help correct the ph and make the soil more alkaline and suitable for turf grasses than weeds. When the lawn is solid weeds, sparse and unloved its often because its too acid. After application like you are feeding the chooks lightly water in to prevent it blowing away and you’ll quickly see the different. Do not reapply fertiliser for 4-6 weeks to let the dolomite do its work, then you may also get a better result from your selective weedicides. As always if you need any advise call the Lifestyle Solutions centre 78 Mt Perry road  and we’ll be glad to help you or if time is precious we can provide the complete solution for you…with ongoing landscape maintenance programs… Take care !
