Wrong way to build a Spray Concrete pool ..

I noticed a photo of a guy spraying a concrete pool. I was stunned to see what the photo showed…. let me explain !

When constructing a spray concrete swimming pool there are some key principals which must be followed precisely..

1/   you must spread a layer of filter gravel to provide a drainage layer for seepage under the pool… depth of this   filter gravel varies depending on the plasticity of the ground where the pool is being constructed… this site would appear to me at the very least clay based yet there is no drainage layer…

2/  steel reinforcing required minimum 65mm coverage to avoid steel rusting as a result of water penetration. For this reason steel chairs are used to hold the steel cage away from the floor. Astonishingly this builder has used a few old bricks that will without doubt leave considerable voids where the steel will remain open to attack from water on the underside of the pool, where you will never see until the rust starts exploding into the pool.

Its imperative to know your pool builder had the expertise to understand why every process must be completed correctly in the construction of your new concrete pool.

You will be glad to know the Lifestyle solutions pool and landscaping in Bundaberg follow the engineers design completely. Compare for yourself in the images attached to clearly show the difference in the construction of our pools. http://www.lifestylesolutions.net.au

custom designed spray concrete pool at bargara

Custom design for this pool creates an impressive look and feel to the home from the entertaining area. Choosing a soft grey 600 long coping paver is a different look to the average pool…and the cascade splash water feature providing a unique and relaxing effect.. paving to start tomorrow which will make the difference… the owners dog causing grief at present stomping all over the unsealed pavers. might need to lock him up for a few days so we can complete the project

Now thats a home with Infinity edge pool

Big advantage of choosing to use a Spray concrete method to build your next pool is the flexibility in design to allow you to build virtually any shape or style pool. These clients have chosen a 15 m lap pool with an 8m infinity edge to be viewed directly from the entertaining area of this stylish new home at Moore park.

The pool was built first to allow the reuse of the spoil from excavation of the pool in the building platform… the home is incredible also…almost ready for us to start work again on the pool now that the home is closer to completion..

Pool construction..walls collapse, Bundaberg

Hello again, this week had been rather painful as the delaying in being able to spray this pool because of the persistent rain has created lots of stress. Yesterday the team went down to the site and found the shoring on the walls of the excavation had bowed from the pressure the rain sodden material put on the wall. Shoring is place to support the concrete when spraying and to cover voids left by large rocks and collapsed material…

Pool construction reinstate walls after collapse

Yes it was painfull but the team got stuck into the job in hand to remove the slop and slug, untie the S12 bars, remove the shoring and do it all again. That took five men around 4 hours to complete the work.. great work guys couldnt have done it without you. Then the next step is to remove the silt form the filter gravel to allow good drainage under the shell and then use a scrubbing brush and a hose to wash down the steel so that the concrete binds to the steel. Once complete pump out the excess water and its all good to go… Concrete spraying team arrived and 5 minutes after this was all complete…. check them out in action, just as tying the steel is an art (thanks Bruce) so is the spraying cutting and shaping of the concrete.

Lets hope we have a few dry days so we can clean away all the rubbish….its so sloppy at present but we dare not bring a machine in yet.

Keep an eye out for the progress of the pool in the coming weeks…

Custom Pool design and construction, Bargara

Another custom pool design for clients at Bargara.

This pool is tucked into the corner of the back yard to allow some grass to remain when the pool area is complete. The pool will include a Cascade Splash water feature, some glass fencing and Stone Directions, pavers and Bullnose coping.. The access was super tight and all the material from excavation was run to the street with our Positrak.

Pool excavation, Bargara

Bargara pool construction underway

Right in the middle of excavation one of the tracks decided to let go so it was a mad dash to grab anew set. Then the fun began fitting the thing. What a mission that turned out to be. Its all good now with pool excavated and the pool steel is almost complete ready for spraying on Monday.

Its always great to custom design pools to provide our clients with a unique pool design not just a duplicate of another project. Stay watching and see this pool area being constructed at Bargara.
